Effects of aerosol on the local heat budget of the lower atmosphere

چکیده
The convergence of heat below subsidence inversions was estimated from radiosonde ascents on fine summer days. Sensible heat input from the ground was estimated from measurements of heat fluxes and net radiation over a wheat field. Absorption and back scattering of solar radiation by aerosol throughout the atmosphere were calculated from measurements of solar radiation at the ground. Radiation absorbed by aerosol in the thermal boundary layer heated the lower atmosphere at an average rate of 3.3degC day-’ (60Wrn-’), about twice as fast as estimated for gaseous constituents. An equation is derived to show how the net effect of aerosol on the lower atmosphere depends on the reflection coefficient of the surface and on the aerodynamic and surface resistances to vapour transfer. Over the wheat, the net effect was almost zero when the crop was transpiring fast, but when the crop was mature, aerosol caused net cooling.

Due to the effect of aerosols present in the atmosphere on the satellite images, the study of the effect of local aerosols distribution on the satellite images is important. On the other hand, the study shows that the effect of aerosols on the greenhouse gases and consequently on climate is also undeniable and as a result, this puts more emphasize on the necessity of this study. Lack of informa...

In this study, heat transfer and aerosol deposition in the under-floor and baseboard heating systems have been investigated, numerically. The aim of this study is a comparison between these heating systems. This comparison obtains the optimal heating system with low suspended particles in the air. Computational fluid dynamic with Eulerian-Lagrangian method has been used to simulate fluid and pa...

Nonmethane hydrocarbons (NMHCs) play an important role in the atmosphere. Photochemical oxidation of hydrocarbons leads to ozone (O3), organic acid, and carbon dioxide (CO2) production, with major implications for local and regional air quality, acid deposition, and the greenhouse effect. In addition, emissions of atmospheric NMHCs lead to an increased aerosol loading, which has major implicati...

[1] Extensive and long-term multistation measurements of aerosol properties and radiative fluxes were carried out in the haze plume off the South Asian continent. These experiments are carried out at Kaashidhoo Climate Observatory (KCO) (4.95 N, 73.5 E), Minicoy (8.5 N, 73.0 E), and Trivandrum (8.5 N, 77.0 E). In addition, the top of the atmosphere fluxes were measured simultaneously by the CER...
متن کاملAerosol effects on global land surface energy fluxes during 2003–2010
Aerosols affect downward solar radiation, impacting the terrestrial ecosystem carbon dynamics and energy budget. Here we apply a coupled modeling framework of a terrestrial ecosystem model and an atmospheric radiative transfer model to evaluate aerosol direct radiative effects on the surface heat fluxes of global terrestrial ecosystems during 2003–2010. We find that aerosol loadings decrease th...
